SanDisk Appoints Kathy Curtin Young To Vice President Of Worldwide Procurement

SUNNYVALE, CA, Jan. 31, 2001 - SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK), the world's largest supplier of flash memory cards, today announced the appointment of Kathy Curtin Young to vice president of worldwide procurement. Young, with over 25 years of purchasing and operations experience, will report to Ralph Hudson, senior vice president of worldwide operations. The newly-created position is effective immediately.

In her new role, Young will manage the procurement of materials and services crucial to SanDisk's continuing profitability and success. She will also ensure SanDisk retains the best talent, processes and suppliers, resulting in competitive pricing and solid infrastructure for flash memory production.

Previously, Young had created and implemented product cost models, re-engineered procurement standards, designed and implemented product cost profile systems that resulted in cost reductions for numerous companies. Before joining SanDisk, Young was senior director of supply chain management at Data General Corporation and vice president of worldwide materials at US Robotics/3Com. She was also vice president of worldwide supplier management at AST Research and vice president of corporate materials and general manager at Connor Peripherals. Young also spent several years at IBM in key management positions.
